[liberationtech] Many VPNs and Psiphon are currently blocked in Iran right now

None of the tools are safe, since the users in question are finding servers
and credentials through word of mouth and on public sites without
attribution for where their data is going. Even if the other side is not
malicious, I've seen a fair amount of those vendors require or encourage
encryption to be disabled to connect, and instruct them on how to turn it
off.

Clearly, the issue for them is access rather than security, so at best, you
could suggest to them that a commercial Western service would be less
susceptible Iranian state coercion than someone like ParsaVPN. However,
there should not be any illusion that they safe.
