desperate times and desperate measures; while this is generally true,
in this situation Snowden has been discredited along personal attacks
which serve no other purpose than to malign the source.

there is truth to this assessment, though it is not so simple as stated...

there have only been statements regarding his continued contact and
collaboration with those reporting on the leaks; there has never been
a claim that he retains access to the actual files, and in fact plenty
of statements indicating the opposite.

this is all entirely consistent.
