There are some really good options out there, including:

TAILS: https://tails.boum.org/about/

Both are Linux OSs, both run off of USB sticks, and both have very
strong privacy-preserving properties.

  This is a bit pendantic of me, but ensuring privacy requires
security.  ;-)
