"For the avoidance of doubt," I hasn't been my intent to criticize the
Stanford CDDRL for hosting this event. In fact, I'm very grateful to
have had the opportunity to listen to Yoani Sánchez.

 This week there was also a Google hangout hosted by, of all people,
the U.S. Department of State, where Yoani says beautiful things about
the Cuban mothers and women in general, how they confront adversity
with astonishing success.

I was making an analogy to this country, where the same
resourcefulness of Cuban mothers in the face of scarcity is displayed
by "the working poor," whose numbers keep growing, driven in part by
the flabbergasting concentration of wealth in the 1%. Adjunct
professors are just one of the casualties in this "war against the
poor", not "war against poverty." And the U.S. Government certainly
has its great share of the blame for this!
