The guy giving introduction is really good!
Cuba is not the only country where people with university degrees end up
hired out in "menial jobs". For example, when I graduated, Magna Cum Laude,
Triple Major in Sociology, Math, Computer Science, from New York
University, my country - Venezuela, circa 1985 - had started already the
roller-coaster ride of being a "wealthy nation" in the Third World of
NeoLiberalism, that is, "a free-for-all", corruption being the main
point... My friends there, engineering graduates and all, were driving
taxis, too..
Another example, right here in "America", and very much closer to the
membership of this email list, is "The Plight of the Adjunct Professor".
"Higher Education" has become almost an oxymoron because, for a very large
percentage of the "Higher Education" faculty, it is "Walmart-Low" when it
comes to compensation and other labor benefits!
So where has the Platonic Teacher-Pupil relationship gone? Apparently, down
the drain, beamed down to millennia ago, in Clasic Greece..
Here's an article by my wife, Ana Maria Fores Tamayo - another Cuban
Blogger for Human Rights, but this time not about the country where she
was born, but about the USA, where she lives and is a citizen of - with
details
