I really didn't intend to turn this thread into discussion of cables —
just pointed out that these companies may try to fill a niche where
they aren't needed as commercial entities. But since you are asking,
safe human-readable addresses are not possible as a concept, unless
you are willing to trust a third party. You can make fingerprint
verification optional, but users won't use it — check out the
minuscule signature / image download ratio of Liberté Linux on
SourceForge, for instance.

I think you missed the part where cables is serverless — mailbox is a
local concept (which is true in general, and is something that people
tend to forget since after webmail became popular).

I will leave those worries to US State dept., or BBG/CIA propaganda
branch, or whoever else is apparently behind most of the funding for
such projects these days... I just work on whatever interests me
personally.
