I’m writing to find great entrepreneurs for the second round of the Civic
Accelerator, a partnership that the organization I run, Village Capital, is
launching with Points of Light. The Civic Accelerator seeks “civic
ventures”—ventures that put people at the center of world-changing
solutions, including but not limited to the following:
- Government transparency
- Collaborative consumption
- Civic engagement/campaign platforms
- Crowdsourcing/crowdfunding
- Volunteerism
Participating ventures in the Civic Accelerator will receive $10,000
upfront investment; at the end of the program, two ventures picked by their
peers will receive $50,000. The program will kick off May in Atlanta, and
wrap up in late July/early August in San Francisco, though we are looking
for ventures nationwide.
If you can think of any ventures, please write me with their names if you
have a second. Also, *feel free to forward this email to any entrepreneurs
or mailing lists you think might be interested. The application deadline is
March 18th, so please forward quickly!*
Also, we are currently recruiting ventures from across India for Village
Capital-CIIE: “Technology for Impact.” We are looking for invention-based
enterprises that currently operate, or plan to operate, in India; we’re
especially interested in education, health, energy, and agriculture
technologies, as well as mobile-based innovations serving the poor. If you
know of anyone, or want to apply, please visit www.vilcap-ciie.org.
Thank you so much for all your help and partnership, and looking forward to
what’s next!
All the best,
Ross Baird
