 The Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS) at University 
College London (UCL) is keen to hear from students who wish to study for a 
philosophy of science PhD. 
 
Members of staff who work in this area, and might be potential supervisors

science, the relations between science and art in the 20th century, 
creativity studies, semiotics and the contemporary debate on 
representations of science 
Brendan <http://www.ucl.ac.uk/sts/staff/clarke> Clarke. History and 
philosophy of medicine, emphasis on causality in medicine 
Andrew <http://www.ucl.ac.uk/sts/staff/gregory> Gregory. Ancient and early 
modern science, the relation of magic and science 
Emma <http://www.ucl.ac.uk/sts/staff/tobin> Tobin. Philosophy of science, 
especially chemistry and biochemistry; metaphysics
 Phyllis <http://www.ucl.ac.uk/sts/staff/illari>Illari. Philosophy of 
science, with research interests in causality and the philosophy of 
information
 
AHRC funding may be available, although the deadline for this year is 
approaching. The AHRC has restrictions on eligibility, details of which can 
be found either on the AHRC website or by contacting us.
