It might help to break this problem into pieces:
  1) Based on your story angle, define "hacker/hacktivist"
  2) Locate people who meet that criteria (who may or may not identify as
hacktivists)
  3) Contact them with a rough overview of your story idea, a little about
you, and some links to past work
  4) ???
  5) Profit.

  There are some problems with interviewing hackers in general, namely
identifying some who are doing things you're writing about and who are
willing to give an interview.  Even then, we can frequently be capricious,
hostile, corporate, or (worst of all) boring.
