As some on this list know, I worked with 85+ people to develop a pattern language for civic engagement which is online (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/patterns/LV) and was published as a book in 2008. (The buttons to scroll through the 136 patterns are at the bottom of the pages)

We’ve now developing a set of cards based on our patterns that are (or can be) licensed as CC by SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/) which does allow for commercial use. This would allow anybody to work with the cards and do pretty much whatever they wanted with them.

The trouble is that it can be VERY difficult to find relevant images that are licensed this way. There are about 20 patterns remaining out of the136 patterns in the book. (I'm not quite at my wit's end — but close!)

I’ve enclosed the names below of the patterns for whom finding images has been particularly difficult hoping that some of you can help me out.

So — if you have any suggestions for specific images or any ideas where I could look for suitable images or whom I should talk to, I’d love to hear them. And if you have any questions about the project, please ask away!

Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!

— Doug

28 Whole cost (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/227) We need a new image

50. Conversational Support Across Boundaries. (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/249) I’d like to use the one I have (locally and on web). I don't know whether I can use it or not.

51. Truth and Reconciliation Commissions. (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/250) I have a slightly better one locally, but don’t have permission to use the image. It’s good but perhaps there’s an open source one available.

63. Community Currencies (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/262) I’d like to ask the Ithaca people about this.

124 Environmental Impact Remediation (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/323)— have CC image at home, murky. web site image has poor resolution

126 Socially Responsible Video Games (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/325)— need to either get permission or new image

127 Open Source Everything (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/326)— we need a new image! the card and site are both bad. It’s hard to convey this idea.
