Well written Griffin. And this approach is not just Fortune 500 companies, and not just US either.

As someone who has recently changed profession (and a few years older than 28!), I have turned down and ignored a number "opportunities" (their words, not mine) as the positions were "interships". I refuse to work for free, for a profit making company.

The least companies can do is pay minimum wage, and even then...
