I dont like how scarcely representative the conference will be, and the rights and views on ethics and protections is relative. One needs to define what security means to people, and at its core, it means to not lose anything.
Prevent entry as best as can be accomplished
Ensure broken or lost items can be recovered with relative ease
Have policy that insures lost investments or savings
Provide awareness for common issues and engage in active policy
Security should never intrude on a persons rights under any circumstances. I think it was ben franklin who said something along the lines if one sacrifices liberty for security, you will have neither and lose both. Civil rights have been killed over, and security has not. If security isnt working, civil rights should never be imposed upon because there is always a better way to do things. Tighten protocols, policies, and clients, not levels of civil rights. Experiment if you have to, because if the above four basic truths are observed, then it does not matter how poor your security is, because you have achieved the goal of not having lost anything in the first place, and security can be flexible, but not a persons rights.
