Never before has mLearning been more relevant to the field of International
Development than it is today. For this one day workshop at the mLearn 2012
conference, we are seeking high-quality papers that demonstrate examples of
mLearning and the significant potential they hold to transform the delivery
of education and training for International Development, whilst also
considering the challenges of achieving scale and impact. We welcome
submissions from practitioners, scholars, policy makers and organisations
who can speak to the effective use of mLearning for any aspect of
International Development. Invited members of the workshop panel include
representatives from the Open University, BBC Media Action, the British
Council, Nokia, Bridges Across Borders and ****Athabasca** **University****.

Submitted papers will be peer reviewed and evaluated according to their
contribution to the field of mLearning, in particular evidencing impact and
practice, methodological soundness, quality of writing and analysis. All
papers must address at least one of the following themes in relation to
educational approaches using mLearning in and for international development:

**· **Positioning for working at scale (thousands of users +)****
**· **Demonstrating cost-effective and appropriate technologies for
Less Economically Developed Countries****
**· **Achieving impact on teaching and learning practices****
All accepted papers will be made available as conference proceedings and
selected papers will be published in an edited book and a Special Issue of
the international peer-reviewed journal Digital Culture & Education (
www.digitalcultureandeducation.com) entitled, ‘mLearning solutions for
international development: Rethinking what’s possible’.

Please submit a *250 word* abstract and *5 to 7 keywords* using the *
template* provided (attached). ****

Once the abstract is accepted you will be required to submit a full paper
for distribution amongst the presenters before the workshop to identify
commonalities and themes and to ensure vigorous roundtable and plenary
discussions. You will also be requested to offer questions relating to one
or more of the identified themes, ****
