Hello,
I'll be hosting Bill Morse from the Landmine Relief Fund on Monday (6/18)
at Stanford. You can read about his amazing story here: http://bit.ly/NsDxbh
Bill left his life in California over a decade ago to help clear landmines
in Cambodia. His team of deminers has helped return land to over 10,000
displaced civilians, and they done it with nothing more than handheld metal
detectors and shovels!
I've known Bill for almost 2 years, and we've exchanged countless emails
about deploying my undergraduate research in visual support devices for
landmine detection ( http://hvrd.me/NDSPci <http://hvrd.me/NDSPci>)
If there is sufficient interest, I'm happy to organize an informal group
meeting around 2PM (6/18) at Gates. We can use this time to pick Bill's
brain about technologies in the space of landmine clearance and to also
hear some stories from the field.
Please forward widely to anyone who may be interested.
Best,
Lahiru Jayatilaka
