*High Quality University Education for the 100% *

 *Who we are:*

In Fall 2011, Stanford University’s free online classes (http://ml-class.org,
http://db-class.org) delivered high quality courses to hundreds of
thousands of students in 176 countries around the world. Stanford
professors Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng are founding a company that is
following up on the success of these courses to scale up online education
efforts to provide a high quality education to the world. Our platform
delivers complete courses where students are not only watching web-based
lectures, but also actively participating, doing exercises, and deeply
learning the material.

Many of the biggest challenges that our society faces -- unemployment,
poverty, climate change, extremism -- can be addressed via better
education. To scale up the effort to educate the world, we are taking
high-quality university courses and providing them for free to anyone,
anywhere, anytime. We have 16 courses launching in winter and spring, with
more on the way.

If you have strong web development / computer science skills, and if you
would like to change the world by making high quality university level
education available to everyone, we invite you to contact us.

 *Our vision:*

We are committed to making the best education in the world freely available
to any person who seeks it. We envision people throughout the world, in
both developed and developing countries, using our platform to get access
to world-leading education that has so far been available only to a tiny
few. We see them using this education to improve their lives, the lives of
their families, and the communities they live in. We see a future where
world-leading educators are at the center of the education conversation,
and their reach is limitless, bounded only by the curiosity of those who
seek their knowledge; where universities such as Stanford, Harvard, and
Yale serve millions instead of thousands. In this future, ours will be the
platform where the online conversation between educators and students will
take place, and where students go to for most of their academic needs.

At the same time, our approach will allow universities to provide an
alternative to standard lecture classes for on-campus students. We propose
a flipped classroom model, in which students use our interactive videos to
watch the content in advance, and classroom time is used for a more
meaningful and engaging interaction between faculty and students, and
between students themselves. This approach has been demonstrated to be a
much more effective learning strategy than traditional lectures.

 *What you will do:*

We have open positions in web development, software engineering, and UI/UX
design. As part of our team, you will help us to design and extend our
online education platform. We have a lot of creative ideas for cool
extensions to the platform, and there’s a lot of hard technology that is
yet to be developed. We would like you to help design and build front-end
and back-end technologies for delivering a high quality learning experience
to millions of students.

Our goal is to better the lives of millions of students. If you join us,
the software that you write will help do that.
