Many internet cafes use 'Deep Freeze' from Faronics with commercial and
consumer versions. Not wanting to fall into the trap of advertising, but
it seems more established and cheaper.
I am curious though, from a forensic analysis point of view what this
kind of software leaves behind, when a system returns to an earlier
state.
I understand windows os 8/9 will offers some sort of Live system equal
to using a Live CD/USB Linux OS.

SiteKiosk is software for public-access-PCs that lets you turn any
computer into a secure Internet terminal, allowing the user to access
the Internet, but protecting the underlying operating system and
files.
