The Sr. Learning Technologies Coordinator leads many aspects of the work of
LT&D (Learning Technology & Design) in providing the most efficient and
effective distance learning and learning technology solutions to meet
Commercial Operations training objectives. The Senior Learning Technologies
Coordinator works closely with fellow team members, internal CT&D
customers, internal partners and stakeholders in Commercial Operations and
other Genentech groups, as well as external vendor partners supporting the
work of LT&D. Senior Learning Technologies Coordinators are typically
assigned departmental leadership responsibilities, such as playing a key
role in the development of LT&D’s overall platforms, applications and other
offerings, educating others internally regarding LT&D’s offerings and
capabilities, coordinating and integrating the activities of multiple LT&D
team members and vendors for maximum effectiveness and efficiencies, etc.
Senior Learning Technologies Coordinators may also have departmental
interns as direct reports for limited periods of time.
Example Duties and Responsibilities
* Plays a leadership role in departmental planning and development:
o Plays a lead role in needs analysis and user requirements’ gathering
o Proactively consults with partners to identify and implement appropriate
learning technologies for the strategies, programs, and offerings of CT&D
and other Commercial partners
o Defines and scopes projects for new or updated LT&D learning technologies
and programmatic offerings
o Works closely with partners in CT&D to proactively incorporate learning
technologies into other, related CT&D strategies, plans, programs, and
other offerings
o Works with manager, other LT&D team members, and where applicable gCOI
(Genentech’s Commercial Operations Informatics) and other Genentech groups
to determine design and development requirements for new learning
technology projects
o Plays a lead role in development of departmental project plans and also
supports manager in assessing and advising on budgetary requirements to
fulfill the work of LT&D
o Supports manager in identifying and recommending other departmental
resources to support the multiple projects and activities of LT&D overall,
e.g. new or upgraded project management planning and tracking programs or
systems, or new webd development tools etc.
o Works with manager and other partners/stakeholders to identify, negotiate
with, commission and on-board external vendor partners to support the work
of LT&D
o Identifies change management, training, and communication requirements to
ensure effective and efficient implementation and roll-out of new or
updated learning technologies, applications and programmatic offerings
o Leads implementation of new or updated learning technologies’ platforms
and applications. Develops detailed project plans and budgets; matching
these to targeted user requirements and learning objectives. Includes
overseeing all relevant testing, trouble-shooting, and other steps as part
of the overall implementation phase;
o Plays a lead role in overseeing department development and implementation
of training, procedures, instructions, prototypes, templates and other
resources and materials to support existing, new or updated learning
technologies’ platforms, applications, or programs
* Manages tracking and reporting of learning history information including
for internal and external audits
* Assists his/her manager in organizing and overseeing day-to-day
departmental operations:
o Oversees open LT&D project requests throughout the project lifecycle
o Responsible for oversight, tracking, monitoring, and reporting of
departmental projects. Ensures resources are allocated appropriately,
proactively identifies potential issues or risks, and creates and proposes
contingency plans to mitigate and resolve issues.
o Directly supervises the work of external vendor partners and any
departmental interns to ensure on-time, on-target and on-budget results
o Oversees, tracks, monitors, and reports on departmental budget
expenditures to ensure optimized use or resources and compliance with set
budget parameters
* Works with manager, other LT&D team members, and external partners to
develop departmental communication plans and tactics.
* Provides a first-line of support for learning technology issues or
requests by partners and/or end users
* Responsible for independently assessing and resolving learning technology
problems either directly or by coordinating expert support with internal
partners or external vendors. Plays the lead role in working with internal
learning partners and technical teams and relevant external vendors for
ongoing management and maintenance of learning technology systems and
applications
* Identifies emerging technologies and recommends new solutions to internal
partners; collaborates with learning and technology colleagues across
Genentech
* Participates in other projects, as assigned, including playing the lead
role representing LT&D in CT&D and/or enterprise-wide projects
* Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct
of Genentech activities
Who you are

Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelors Degree (technology, education, business, project management or
related disciplines preferred)
* Graduate-level Degree in related discipline is a plus
* Average of 5 of more years’ work experience with 4 or more years work
experience in training & development and/or learning technologies or
related project or program management, preferably gained within the
pharmaceutical, biotech or related industry
* Must demonstrate strong understanding, demonstrable skills, and/or
previous experience with learning technologies including eLearning
software, learning management systems, assessment systems, content
management, database management, web design and development, virtual
classrooms, and/or mobile devices (including iPads).
* Must possess a strong understanding of learning technologies and strong
abilities to trouble-shoot problems and conduct effective follow-through
with end users
* Previous experience leading learning technologies’ projects is strongly
preferred; includes development and management from RFP (request for
proposal) to project completion through ongoing maintenance and development
* Previous experience defining business processes and procedures
(preferably gained within a regulated industry).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent partnering skills
* Experience with standard project life-cycle management
* Previous field sales, field management, or product marketing experience
in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other related industry is a plus
* Proven track record of meeting or exceeding objectives & goals
* Business travel, by air or car, is required for regular internal and
external business meetings
