[liberationtech] Software engineer for healthIT in emerging markets

Hello!  We're hoping to find a Stanford software engineer who would be
interested in working on a healthIT project with a focus in Kenya and other
parts of East Africa.

A little about the project -

We plan to create an integrated application on low-cost Android tablets for
use by healthcare practitioners and managers at public health facilities in
Kenya. The software will serve four functions: (1) provide form-based
algorithms to guide diagnosis and subsequent treatment; (2) ensure safe
data collection integrated with OpenMRS, an open-source EMR; (3) track
out-of-pocket payments to health facilities and expenses paid by health
facilities; (4) monitor inventory at health facilities

We believe this mobile software will lead to higher quality care by
addressing the need for better training and understanding of diagnosis
techniques at the time of care, providing more information on patient
histories and backgrounds, ensuring that money paid to facilities is
tracked appropriately and creating an inventory system to ensure that
essential supplies are consistently stocked in every facility. This
information will also influence top-down decision-making by helping the
central government to easily identify areas, both geographical and
operational, for improvement.

Some components of the platform will leverage existing open source software
like Open Data Kit and OpenMRS.
