For some context, this is intended to be a second in a series of app
privacy summits - the first being a February gathering organized by the
co-founder of Hipster in response to the negative publicity that their
app (and others) received when they were found to be pulling user
contacts without notice. More notably this first event was terribly
timed to occur late on the Friday afternoon after RSA, so it was very
poorly attended.
At least based on the proposed schedule, this event looks to be much
better organized and assembled - and while it is certainly business- and
policy-centric, as you point out, I'm happy to see that they've recently
added a discussion on privacy tools as well. The jury is obviously still
out on attendance, but I'd encourage anyone who's on the fence to attend!
