*Americans Elect: A Third Candidate in 2012?*

Join the GSB Government and Politics Club, Americans Elect at Stanford
(AES), and Stanford in Government (SIG) on *April 11th, 7:00 - 8:30 pm, in
CEMEX Auditorium* for a panel on the viability of a third ticket in the
2012 presidential race.  This event is free and open to the public, so

*MODERATOR*:

PROFESSOR LARRY DIAMOND is the director of the CDDRL and senior fellow at
the Hoover Institution and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International
Studies.

*PANELISTS:*

PROFESSOR DAVID KENNEDY: Pulitzer Prize winner and director of Stanford's
Bill Lane Center for the American West. Professor Kennedy will explain the
history of independent or third party presidential candidacies.

PETER ACKERMAN: The chairman of Americans Elect, a nonpartisan, nonprofit
organization to nominate any eligible citizen as a presidential ticket
directly by online voters. He is also the founding chair of the
International Center on Nonviolent Conflict. Mr. Ackerman will give his
opinion on why a third candidate is necessary in the upcoming presidential
elections.

TUCKER BOUNDS: Worked on the Facebook policy communications team; former
spokesperson for John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign; Deputy Campaign
Manager in Communications for Meg Whitman's California gubernatorial
campaign. Mr. Bounds will provide his perspective on why presidential
politics will always be a two-party affair.
