Hi
Mike A. -
First I would like to point out that while Amatage's paper, covers some
good ground, and also goes to good lengths to sight those who had figured
out about the superiority of Proxy based representation... ( He sight me as
"some Hobbyists".... I guess thats what one gets for being ahead of him in
terms of Game theoretic issues in Social Choice theory )...
His paper does seem to cover some less relevant ideas a bit, and does not
actually cover the foundations in information theory that shore up exactly
why a given formulation for Proxy Based representation is superior.
In our Voting Maters
paper<http://www.votingmatters.org.uk/ISSUE27/I27P1.pdf>,
as an aside, we reflects that proxy based individual specified
representation, can best form a layer permitting voters to proxy to a person
or commity of people who they feel would best represent them on a given
class of issues ( Key word, rule based proxy directives, steered by each
voter's digital agent )....
In our system, Information Theoretically maximized transmission of the
voters desires is transmitted thru the representation layer, such that
Social Consensus is aggregated directly on underlying issues of governance
policy... The game theoretic aspects of social choice function
employed....are addressed within the spoiler effect free wide open choice
space tallying function that is an extension of Condorcet's, pairwise
ranking innovation... his method exhibits binary independence....we extend
Condorcet's work via both linear moderation....as well as most equitably
resolving coinciding cyclical majority's by a the method of median based
voter priority resolved worst candidate elimination....
That is, there in no need for voters to personally engage in any
Stratigic Vote Gaming behavior....the Alpha parametrized Pairwise
differential tallying systems maximally propagates each voters prioritized
preference information on a level playing field along side all other
voters..... When considering cyclical majority's are enconterd due to the
formation of a top cycle set withing the win edge graph.... a context
adaptive median based prioritization of the win edges is employed to resolve
the least preferable candidate for elimination.. This method for
resolving cyclical majority minimizes any contextual dependance beyond that
of purely binary, while at the same time also strategically resolving
cyclical majority's based on all of each voters ranking priority
information...
More on how this works as you come more up to speed...feel free to ask
more questions.... -Peter
