To lighten up the slow list traffic as of late:

US State Dept's going on the offensive (i.e. internet freedom is a lot more than just circumvention)
http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2011/03/25/us/politics/politics-us-rights-usa-technology.html?_r

And this on mobile data collection and retention:
Cellphones Track Your Every Move, and You May Not Even Know - http://nyti.ms/h5XKOU

I like to know whether there is, other than Chris's work, anyone else working on getting more of a complete picture of MNO privacy and data retention policies? If so, we'd like to talk to you - especially if you work outside the US/EU context.

Lastly - there was little to no traffic on the Comodo affair - one of the clearest signals yet how broken the CA system is. Jake's forensics and amazing detective work is a fascinating albeit depressing read: https://blog.torproject.org/blog/detecting-certificate-authority-compromises-and-web-browser-collusion. We have tracked Comodo root certs for mobiles as well, if anyone is interested in that.

Best,

K
