hi liberationtech!

thanks adam for letting people know about the Contact Summit.

ivan, i was brought on to help organize the event, and have been pushing for
options to make it affordable for everyone.

on one hand, we're encouraging "Corporate Patronage", where instead of just
giving money to have a banner put up or some other nonsensical marketing
ploy, organizations can directly fund the people and projects coming to the
event, either by supporting an individual by paying their
travel/accommodations/ticket, or by contributing cash to their initiatives.

(in my ideal world, a sponsor will come in and cover the cost of the event
so admittance is free. in the meantime, doing what we can.)

on the other hand, we are also offering a scholarship/student/starving
artist rate of $95 - and thank you for pointing it out.... that info is not
highly visible. going to get that fixed now. we just launched the site this
morning, so there are a few tweaks / broken links that still need to be
resolved.

thanks again for the mention, and hope some of you may be able to attend.

oh also, fyi, we started a google group to discuss / collaborate on 'Next
Net' initiatives, from ad-hoc mesh nets to alternative infrastructures. i've
been cross-posting some stuff from here to there, but in case anyone wants
