  *Kauffman-Sponsored Issue of Democracy **Features Entrepreneurship 'From
the Ground Up'*

*Five experts examine what more government should do
**to encourage entrepreneurship*

Recognizing the urgency to kick-start the economy through entrepreneurship,
the Kauffman Foundation sponsored the latest issue of *Democracy--a Journal
of Ideas*<http://cl.exct.net/?ju=fe2d17717661037d741278&ls=fdeb1d767267057b74137871&m=fef61175736207&l=fe5a15757d6403787113&s=fe2916717d63077b7c1571&jb=ffcf14&t=>
to
examine how the government can promote firm formation and growth.

"From the Ground Up: Fostering
Entrepreneurship<http://cl.exct.net/?ju=fe2c17717661037d741279&ls=fdeb1d767267057b74137871&m=fef61175736207&l=fe5a15757d6403787113&s=fe2916717d63077b7c1571&jb=ffcf14&t=>
" features essays by five esteemed experts who look at different aspects of
the question from a progressive point of view: the growth of regional
innovation clusters; the vital role that immigrants play in American
entrepreneurship; the need to educate children to be entrepreneurs; the
hurdles faced by minority entrepreneurs; and the political tensions within
the progressive coalition that sometimes constrain the ability or
willingness to embrace an entrepreneurship agenda.

"Each essay presents compelling insights and specific prescriptions about
how to reform or draft new policies that will promote entrepreneurship in
America," said Robert Litan, vice president of research and policy at the
Kauffman Foundation. "Policymakers and economic leaders will find these
essays thought-provoking and, we hope, inspiring."
