[liberationtech] Flocks - "cloud-shy" social interaction

Greetings, geeks-who-care.

Once again [for those who remember swatwt] I've written something that
I hope can be helpful, and I need some peer review.

Flocks is a very simple paradigm for social interaction that tries to
minimize usage of [and information leakage to] "the cloud" by doing as
much as possible on the desktop [and hopefully on phones in the
future].

The only outbound interaction with "the cloud" is that Flocks generates
for you a static html+rss folder called a nest (the equivalent of a
profile page in traditional social networks), and uploads it to a place
where it's publicly available on the web.

My nest is at http://zzzen.com/thedod/ Yours can be anywhere you want
(your own server, dropbox, tahoe-lafs, etc.).

You can read documentation at https://github.com/thedod/Flocks/wiki

Although Flocks is not user-ready yet, I'd be grateful if some of you
could install it, give some feedback, and [hopefully] start your
own nests and become "premature adopters" :)

Even if you don't have the energy to install it, you can still have
comments and insights after reading the docs. I'd be happy to hear them.

Cheers,
The Dod
