Research Assistant Needed
Do you want to drive a research project that helps societies explore hard
economic trade-offs, through data-driven social networks? Do you want to
help influence government budget making using a holistic reasoned approach?
Widescope, a research project led by Prof. Ashish Goel, is looking for a
research assistant to help our first experiment, a website that helps users
explore federal and state budgets, gain traction.

Development of the website ( http://widescope.stanford.edu) is almost
complete and its mean features are:
Search: Study budgets proposed by politicians and regular citizens. Propose:
Design your own budgets, and state your reasons. Influence: Comment, vote,
develop consensus. The ideal candidate is passionate about this topic will
among other things take a lead to:
Drive widespread adoption and use of Widescope by politicians, the media,
and relevant government agencies Promote the use and awareness of Widescope
in relevant academic circles (Economics, Political Science, Public Policy,
Government, etc) Drive the future direction of feature development based on
user trials PhD Students and Research Fellows in Economics, Political
Science, Public Policy, Sociology, Communication, Management Science &
Engineering are highly encouraged to apply.
This is a full-time research position beginning in January 2012. To apply,
