Ah so this is different from what I thought. There is
http://www.open-mesh.com/ and http://www.open-mesh.org/
which are reductions to practice of various mesh technologies. Really
meant for "traditional" deployments (wired
up link, scatter the net in an area where running cable is undesirable).
Vs some of the other projects which are focused on more extreme scenarios.
