I think we must ensure that we don't paint all legislators, politicians,
and bureaucrats with a single brush.  No institution—political,
corporate, NGO or otherwise—is monolithic and none is monolithically
corrupt, though each has more than its fill of corrupt persons.

It is important to remember that important  like the Right to
Information Act were drafted and passed by the same set of people,
goaded and challenged (of course) by a grassroots movement.  And if
politicians are so corrupt, why on earth were they trying to bring in a
Bill to tackle corruption (watered down as it may have been) in the
first place?  (And different political parties have been repeatedly
trying to do so, and have passed numerous other anti-corruption measures
both at the central level as well as at provincial levels.)  There's
only so far that a 'to perpetuate the hegemony' and 'to pull wool over
people's eyes' explanation goes.

At any rate, I sense this discussion is getting OT for liberationtech.
