I've spotted Sana (aka MocaMobile), a powerful mHealth platform, and thought
it could be adopted to crisis mapping / monitoring scenarios, such as the
one we're looking at with burundi.friendsobserve.org
<http://burundi.friendsobserve.org/>Any interest?

Sana (previously named MocaMobile) has recently won the vodafone Americas
foundation and mHealth alliance awards ($150,000 together).

Sana is a client-server platform for mHealth applications. It allows field
workers to send medical reports including text and image to a medical
centre, and doctors at the centre to send back treatment instructions.
Although it was developed for health scenarios, I see a lot of parallels to
our situation. Perhaps it could be adapted to provide a citizen journalism
kit? The code is open source, so there should be no barriers to doing so -
but we will need the help of experienced Android developers - and some
Android phones to hand out.
