Dear Members of the Liberation Technologies Working Group,

It is my pleasure to remind you that the next meeting of the Liberation Technologies Working Group will be held on TOMORROW, Thursday, December 4, 12:00noon. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED.

Our presenters Neil Patel and Neema Moraveji, PhD Candidates in Computer Science will speak on the topic of: "The Challenge and the Hope: Experiences designing information systems for rural populations"

Neil Patel will be speaking about his experiences designing information systems for rural communities in India. Farming communities in rural developing regions face many challenge: increasing global competition and industrialization of agriculture, rising costs of inputs, lack of market access, plummeting yields due to loss of soil fertility, dealing with dynamic conditions such as new diseases and pests and climate change. His research looks at how to support farmers in overcoming these challenges through appropriate information systems. The goal is to address information asymmetries and support more informed decision-making.

Kindly RSVP to atolnay at stanford.edu to let us know if you will be able to attend the presentation. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Sincerely,
Adam Tolnay
