Dear all,
As you might already know, CPDP LatAm 2026 will take place this week, under the central theme: “Data Governance for Digital Sovereignty, Cooperation, and Interoperability.”
CPDP LatAm is the main multistakeholder conference dedicated to data governance and AI in Latin America, and the only one combining multistakeholder debates, annual research, and policy proposals.
This year, we will start with a capacity-building pre-event on Tuesday, 11 August, dedicated to “Digital Sovereignty: Concepts, Risks and Opportunities,” organized in partnership with Duke University. The conference program will include opening and closing plenaries, which will be live-streamed, as well as 28 sessions organized through an open call, taking place on 12 and 13 August.
The full program is available here: https://cpdp.lat/programa-2026/
Following tradition, the conference will conclude with a side event dedicated to a particularly relevant subject. This year’s side event, “Artificial Intelligence Risks: Governance and Innovation,” is organized in partnership with the IGF Coalition on Data and AI Governance and will take place on 14 August.
This year’s publications, resulting from the 2025 Call for Papers, as well as our new study and recommendations on “Data Taxation, Data Protection and Data Equity” (resulting from the CPDP LatAm 2025 position paper on the same topic), and the CPDP LatAm 2026 position paper on “From Informational Self-Determination to Data Sovereignty,” will be available starting Wednesday here: https://cpdp.lat/en/publications/
The conference will also be the occasion to launch our new study, “Cooperative Digital Sovereignty and Artificial Intelligence,” prepared for the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), to be released during the closing plenary (it will also be live-streamed).
The plenary sessions and the side event will be livestreamed in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Livestream links and agendas for the plenary sessions are available below. The livestreaming links for the AI side event will be shared shortly on www.cpdp.lat<http://www.cpdp.lat/> and through the @CTS_FGV and @CPDPlatam social media channels.
Conference tickets are sold out. Thanks to our generous sponsors, we were also able to distribute more than 150 grants, facilitating the participation of civil society representatives, government officials, academics, and students from Latin America and beyond, with participants from more than 35 countries.
As per tradition, the outcome document, including all session reports and video recordings, as well as an overview of publications and policy recommendations, will be published in early September. It will be shared in due course.
Please feel free to share this email through your networks!
Best,
Luca
