*** Citizen Lab Uncovers a Massive Hack-for-Hire Operation ***

Dark Basin is a hack-for-hire group that has targeted thousands of
individuals and hundreds of institutions on six continents. Targets
include advocacy groups and journalists, elected and senior government
officials, hedge funds, and multiple industries.

*** New Analysis on Suspicious Fake Antennas in Caracas, Ciudad de
México, La Paz and the Venezuelan-Colombian Border ***

After ninety days of investigation, FADE has published its first report
focused on detecting and understanding phone surveillance in risk
contexts within Latin America.  Specifically, the report analyzed phone
surveillance in  La Paz, Mexico CMX, Caracas, and the
Venezuelan-Colombian border.

*** New Report on Google and Facebook’s Race to Build Internet
Infrastructure in the African Region ***

Only seven African countries in the 2019 Networked Readiness Index top
100 rankings — with none in the top 70. Now the race to build out the
Internet infrastructure in the region is being led by tech giants in
Silicon Valley, like Google and Facebook.  This will have a dramatic
impact in the region.

*** Digital Grassroots Looking for a Diversity of People ***

Digital Grassroots is currently looking for partners, sponsors,
volunteers, and mentors. They focus on engaging youth in Internet
Governance; connecting grassroots communities to institutions that
enhance their autonomy in digital citizenship, and creating services
that respond to the digital needs of underserved communities. Its a

*** Calling All Tool Creators: Apply to the ISHR Call for Proposal ***

The International Service for Human Rights has a call for proposals.
They are looking ot support secure digital tools that can be used for
human rights monitoring and documentation.  Submit your project before
June 22nd!

*** Just Released: Digisec Guide by Conexo***

Conexo just released a guide meant to enhance virtual digital security
workshops and training. The guide, currently only available in Spanish,
gives a good overview of important foundational digisec knowledge. It's
also a great resource to share with people that are just starting the
learning process.
