Dear friends,
This newsletter is a service for internet freedom defenders around the
world! Send us interesting updates, open positions, events, and
resources and we will share them in our next newsletter. Contact us at

Here are our updates for the week of November 11-15:
*** The IFF 2020 Call for Proposals will Open Next Week ***
The IFF Call for Proposal (CFP) will open NEXT WEEK so stay tuned! This
year the CFP comes with many changes that includes a new platform and
program design and much more. To help you with your submission, we will
be launching a submission guide at the same time it opens. The CFP
closes on December 13.
*** Meet IFF’s NEW CEP Community Builders! ***
This year, IFF launched the Community Empowerment Program (CEP), and
selected 10 individuals from 10 countries and representative of 8
regions of the world, to be part of the first CEP cohort. These folks
will be helping the IFF curate the sessions for the 2020 program. Check
them out! https://internetfreedomfestival.org/welcome-community-builders/
*** Statement Against Attacks on Digital Rights Activists in Southeast
Asia ***
Various human rights groups and activists in Southeast Asia have come
together to release a statement of regional solidarity calling to stop
the attacks on democracy and media activists. They state, “In the
increasingly authoritarian region, we stand witness to bloggers,
protestors, human rights defenders, journalists and everyday internet
users being harassed, threatened, beaten, prosecuted and imprisoned for
their legitimate use of online spaces.”

During IFF 2019, Localization Lab organized a session exploring
approaches to gender inclusive language in Arabic. What followed
