### Solidarity Calls-to-Action this Week ###

** Myanmar **
For the past six days and counting, various townships in Myanmar are
experiencing Internet blackouts. Stand in solidarity by posting to
social media at 5:00pm MMT / +6.30 UTC every day, until the government
resumes internet access in affected areas. Follow hashtags
#StopInternetShutdownMM #keepiton. Post ideas:

** Hong Kong **
Ahead of the G20 Summit, folks in Hong Kong are calling on the
international community to support their current battle for their rights
and freedoms. Visit https://freedomhkg.net/ to learn more and tweet with
the hashtags #FreedomHK #AntiELAB. Bonus: If you're from a G20 nation,
tell your government you'd like them to raise the issue of Hong Kong at
the summit!


*** Direct Link Between Internet Shutdowns and Human Rights Violations
in Suda n***

It’s been over a week since Sudan shut down mobile internet via major
service providers. This is not the first time Sudan has shut down the
internet, but this round of shutdowns are different from previous ones.

*** UN Report: Surveillance Industry & Technology Undermining Freedom of
Expression ***

David Kaye, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Opinion
and Expression, just released his latest report. He states that the
private surveillance industry and the targeting of individuals by
digital surveillance technology is undermining freedom of expression and
putting the lives of many individuals at risk.

*** Relaynet Looking for Folks Affected by Internet Blackouts ***

Relaynet, is a technology to circumvent complete Internet blackouts
caused by repressive regime, is looking for feedback. While they are in
alpha, they are hoping to talk to folks who have been affected by
complete Internet blackouts or are working in this area. Please reach

*** Cybersecurity Art Contest @ Berkley ***

The Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity (CLTC) is launching a contest
that seeks artistic proposals that engage substantively with
cybersecurity in themes, topics, audience, and/or materials. They are
seeking proposals for interdisciplinary work produced as a
single-channel media or web-based work. Deadline is July 30, 2019
12:00am PDT and prices will range from $5,000 to 25,000.
