*** Glitter Meetup Update ***

Glitter Meetups will now take place every Thursday at 9am EST. GMs is
where the IFF comes to you virtually every week, where you can connect
and share with others. GMs take place on the IFF Mattermost Square
channel. You can request an invitation to the IFF Mattermost by emailing

*** An IFF Thank You ***

This is the first newsletter post 2019 Internet Freedom Festival. We
wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all for such an amazing
edition. The IFF community is at the core of  everything we do. We
wouldn’t be able to create the magic we create without your passion,
power and dedication.


*** FOCI 19 Call For Papers***

The Free and Open Communications on the Internet Workshop (FOCI) has an
open call for papers for their 2019 edition. Deadline is May 23rd. This
year they are especially seeking submissions about harassment and
astroturfing as threats to freedom of expression online. FOCI is a
vibrant, peer-reviewed event dedicated to bringing together researchers
and practitioners from technology, law, and policy who are working on a
wide variety of censorship-related topics.

*** How Practising Liberation Built a Futurist Lenses at the IFF ***

IFF’s 2019 Co-Host and Community Health Lead, Sharmin Hossain, shares
her thoughts on why the IFF is a futurist space, and why we need each
other more than ever as we build  new systems to replace the old ways
that do not work anymore.

Dhyta Caturani is regarded by many in the Internet Freedom community as
a good friend, reliable colleague, and inspiring feminist. She currently
needs our support you for a medical condition. In response, IF community
