Here are your updates for the week of December 11-15:

### News and Updates ###

*** The IFF Internet Freedom Events Calendar ***

We believe in the creation of safer community spaces. For that reason,
we created an Internet Freedom Events Calendar that features only events
with a code of conduct. If you are hosting or know of an upcoming
Internet freedom-related event that should be featured, you can share it
with us directly on our website:
https://internetfreedomfestival.org/internet-freedom-events-calendar/

***Beta Test a New Tool for OTF***

A tool to perform circumvention and detection of network interference,
partially funded by OTF, recently went into beta testing (Note: it is
NOT currently safe for use by those at risk). The tool developers asked
if we could reach out to the IF community to see if anyone is willing to
give it a try and let the developers know of any issues you run into.
You can find the tool at

https://libra-server.herokuapp.com/ and can send feedback via
measure.libra at gmail.com.

*** Support Free and Safe Girls***

\ (Nicaragua) just launch a crowdfunding campaign called “Free and safe
girls” a direct action proposal to prevent and mitigate digital
violence, aimed to girls and teenager between 12 and 17 years old from
Managua. Learn more and support the project:

***Creating a Safer Community Spaces Toolkit***

“To protect our spaces we need to provide community organizers with
professional tools and strategies.[…] The Safer Community Spaces Toolkit
for community organizers and event designers is a practical guide with
all the professional materials we wished we had when we first started
working with communities. This curated manual is the product of years of
community experience, combined with the expertise of seasoned
professionals in gender, diversity, inclusivity, psychology,
conflict-resolution and group dynamics.”

### Ally’s Corner ###

***Safer Space Series: The Power of Ceremony Part 1***

When you get a group of people to feel connected to each other in a
humane way, a cultural transformation takes place that leads to
dramatically positive outcomes.

***Safer Space Series: Listen and Believe Your Community Members***

To create safer spaces, one of the most important things organizers need
to do is create feedback loops to engage the various communities we
serve. Each individual comes with a completely unique mix of
experiences, cultural background, and psychology. When we listen, we
become more educated on how to best serve our members, and how to make
them safer.
