Citizens are increasingly dependent on digital technologies for interacting with the government, for work, access to healthcare, news and information, and social contacts. Businesses and organisations rely on Big Tech to keep their core processes running. How can we shape these dependencies? Researchers from various disciplines will show how these dependencies are formed and what effects they have on our daily lives.
Spotlight: closing panel on Digital Inclusion
Who gets left behind as society becomes more and more digital? To close the day, our panel brings together research and practice:

In een interview met onze dagvoorzitter Eveline van Rijswijk<https://digital-society.email-provider.eu/link/ihxe42en7u/yy4oz1imuq/xnbxqsp2lt/q13o7jewzm/rexdwr3j1s?lp-t=1793353501> vertelt de staatssecretaris over haar digitale agenda: hoe Nederland zijn digitale toekomst vormgeeft, en hoe we ons positioneren op Europees niveau. Zoals zij het zelf zegt: Nederland moet “zelf de baas worden over zijn data, digitale infrastructuur en technologie”. Tot haar prioriteiten horen een sterke Europese techsector, meer Europese digitale weerbaarheid en de bescherming van democratie en grondrechten, ook online.

Misschien heb je gemerkt dat onze website een korte, onverwachte pauze nam vorige week. Een PHP-hack vond blijkbaar dat ons programma nog wat extra spanning kon gebruiken. Gelukkig is de website weer helemaal terug, en we vinden dat het wachten de moeite waard was!

Burgers zijn steeds afhankelijker van digitale technologie in hun contact met de overheid, voor werk, toegang tot zorg, nieuws en informatie, en sociale contacten. Bedrijven en organisaties zijn voor hun kernprocessen afhankelijk van Big Tech. Hoe kunnen we deze afhankelijkheden vormgeven? Onderzoekers uit verschillende disciplines laten zien hoe deze afhankelijkheden ontstaan en welke gevolgen ze hebben voor ons dagelijks leven.

Wie blijft er achter nu onze samenleving steeds digitaler wordt? Ter afsluiting van de dag brengt ons panel wetenschap en praktijk samen:
