[DATAGOV Core] UPDATES ON WEBSITE: OPINION NEEDED Meeting with Ray at 10

Hello everyone,
I am sharing a few screenshots from the meeting with Ray. They presented the Website structure (resembling what we asked in the document, which you can also find here<https://uva.works.surf.nl/apps/files/files/5513999?dir=/OneDrive/Website&editing=false&openfile=true>).
They showed us two options, one with lavander background and one in orange. We thought the lavander was a bit meh, bit boring. We all liked the orange but I stressed how it resembles the Critical Infrastructure Lab website, way too much in my opinion. We asked Ray to show us how it would look using the other colors.
You find the possibilities as screenshots attached. But, we are kind of strongly leaning towards the brown on green background. We think this option keeps the kickin' vibe while also maintaining a good visibility/readability.
We also discussed about:
- the pictures: they are not bad (I think) but both Ray and Sruthi suggested we may need more and better ones; I wonder if Federico could help in this regard? I may have some pics (like the server and other things from my previous fieldwork).
- the logo on the top of the page: do we want to have DATAGOV or DATAGOVLab?
- Contacts: Ray forgot to put it in the top menu, and they will also put it at the bottom of the page, so that one can also see it by scrolling down;
- the 'matrix': Ray created this cool matrix on the project page where you can click on each tech type or line of inquiry (sovereignty, inequality, citizenship) to go to a dedicated page; I asked them if she can make it in a way that, with time, we can populate not just the axes (btw still needs to put it the third axis, contexts) but also the intersections (e.g. inequality & digitial IDs) with dedicated writings; they say they will try but did not guarantee;
Please let us know if you have any question or comments in relation to the website, I told Ray we would let them know by tomorrow so that they can start creating the actual website using wordpress.
Best,
Giulia

Dear all,
Here are my updates!

Had a really good time at CPDP. Attended many panels that got me excited, particularly the ones on chatbot conversations and user privacy. I started to think more about it from governance perspective. For example, conversations on migration and abortion, and consequences with regard to citizenship and criminalisation. Maybe I will write a blog post on it after pilot submission
*
Had a lovely conversation on Avatar FM x CPDP about Feminist Futures - Data and Power. This is the archived link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzBbWyePDCc
*
Giving my Dutch exam tomorrow, fingers crossed I pass.
*
It’s been pending for a while but I’ll send my blog post draft for your review soon and it can go up this week.
*
Will submit my rapporteur notes for CPDP soon
*
Will continue working on pilot
Best regards,
Sruthi

Dear all,
I hope you are all having a great start to the week!
For updates:
*
I finalised and sent my first full(ish) draft of the pilot to Matthias
*
Stefi and I found an avenue for doing an exchange in Brussels via Erasmus, will start sending emails today.
*
Went to CPDP which was really interesting. I found it really interesting how data is talked about differently in a defence context vs a security one. In defence it is very much treated as a strategic and potentially breakable resource while in security it is more guaranteed and something that infringes on our rights. So, I will explore this literature further after the pilot because it is definitely an interesting avenue.
*
I also ran into some of my old Europol colleagues who now work in Luxembourg University under a professor that studies interoperability from a criminology perspective, so I will do some follow ups there.
*
As for to-dos this week: lots of admin and prep for SSN, then finalise the pilot by incorporating the remaining 12 articles and writing a conclusion and also finalise the panel notes.
All the best,
Matteo

Dear all,
I was very sorry to miss CPDP but am glad to hear that you had a great and productive time.
My week in Amsterdam was also quite productive:
*
I handed in a new pilot study section. I am meeting with Gabriel on Thursday to go over it.
*
I have been studying hard for my Dutch exam, which will take place this afternoon. Let’s hope that I pass.
*
I attended the PhD program’s mandatory research data management course. This offering was the last available date before our team retreat in Zeeland.
*
I started contacting potential gatekeepers in Brazil. Aside from Rio (where the LAVITS symposium is set to take place), I am trying to decide if I will also visit Campinas or São Paulo City. The next step is to reach out to the team’s (and Gabriel’s) Rio-based contacts in activist communities and organizations.
Looking forward to seeing y’all in person again!
Kind regards,
Carina

Hello!
Some updates from me.
First and foremost I miss you all and I am sorry of being away so long.
The project in Genova took a lot of my energies this may. I only can say
that is for good becuse the insight and the ideas that poor out of this
are very concrete and the inspiration is flowing. In some sense the
retepalanche.it is a micro scale data governance experiment after all.
Hard to settle down.
I am happy I can follow your progresses online though. So keep the
"noise" on the channels coming, together with photos and chats.
About preparations for series of activities, apart of the push to set up
appointments for kids I am a bit behind, would like to be able to
propose something in non hectic, non obligatory, participative way, but,
a bit countrary to my nature, I ended up in response mode, waiting to
transform some input.
I hope I can bring from Sicily, were I am going after Genova for a short
work trip some occasions to set up another lab there to which I can
offer participation to the group. We will see, I better not to
anticipate anything yet ;)
I spare you the routine details. Know I am there in support and with a
uge wish to participate and I will be back in town the 16th of June.
