Rocco is a Research Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). He works at the intersection of politics, law and science and technology studies. He studies how digital data become pivotal elements in the governing of societies. He is the PI of the ERC project DATAUNION, focusing on European database interoperability.

Jo Pierson, PhD, is Full Professor of Responsible Digitalisation at Hasselt University and Professor of Media and Communication Studies at VUB, Belgium. He is head of School of Social Sciences at UHasselt. His research focuses on digital media, privacy, public values in data-driven technologies, edtech, AI, and user empowerment.
