Dear team,
We talked to Framer Framed today and it was a very fruitful meeting. They are very excited to collaborate with us -- the director himself seems to be an avid advocate against data infrastructure dependence.
We can share more details later but thought it would be good to share in writing some of the key takeaways.
Cost breakdown (excl VAT):
*
Space rent: 750 euros
*
Audio visual technician: 250 euros (50 euros / hour, minimum 3 hours)
*
Borel drinks: 150 - 300 euros (depending on how many people join)
For drinks, framer framed can prepare drinks (2 euro per drink) which they will invoice us later. The typical format is: offer 1-2 free drinks and the guest can pay for more if they want to.
On the day, a technician will be there to assist us (as per the hourly costs) as well as 1-3 people from framer framed to deal with drinks etc.
In terms of communication, we decided to take pictures of the pipes that they are constructing for the data center in the neighborhood. We can maybe also talk about this during our opening talk...? The deadline to put the info up on framer framed website is end of Feb. @Meg Kitamura<mailto:m.kitamura at uva.nl>will make sure this happens.
Framer framed has also proposed collaborations beyond our kick-off, particularly they invited us to collaborate on a project on AI which will be launched in 2027. We can share more in the meeting.
