Hi All: Congratulations again to all for such an energetic preconference
workshop!

Since the wrapping up the event, a few of us discussed pulling together a
similar set of panels for next year's Latin American Studies Association
(LASA) Conference in Barcelona from May 23-26, 2018 (
https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/congress/) with Stefania and
Emiliano again.

LASA is - for the 1st time - hosting a new section on Social Research in
the Era of Analytics and Big Data, which makes it especially friendly to
our pre-conference papers. It's also the 1st time that LASA will be held in
a site other than North or South America. You can see the Call for Papers
here
<https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/congress/files/CallforPapers.pdf>.

Depending on interest, we could organize up to 3 of these panels, with up
to 5 papers in each. If you'd be interested in joining a table, you'd be
welcome to resubmit your updated proposal from Cartagena, or an entirely
different one would also be welcome. We'd just ask that you:

   - simply indicate interest to Stefania, Emiliano and myself by *Tues.,
   Aug. 22*
   - send us your paper title and an abstract (under 250 words) by *Wed.,
   Aug. 30*
   - make sure you become a LASA member by Aug. 30 (membership rates are
scaled starting at $38 for students, $45 for Latin American residents,
etc.) if you are not a member of LASA already. LASA's submission system
   <https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/congress/proposalguidelines.asp>
won't
let you be added to a panel unless you are an active member. See fees
   here <https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/membership/costs.asp>.
   - LASA also accepts applications for travel grants
   <https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/eng/congress/travelgrants-main.asp> --
which are due on *Sept. 7*.

Feel free to let me, Stefania and Emiliano know if you have any other
queries.

Hoping this finds everyone well, and hoping to see you all in Barcelona!

Hola a todxs!
from the South' en Colombia!

<https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/esp/congress/files/CallforPapers.pdf>.

   <https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/esp/membership/costs.asp>.
   <https://lasa.international.pitt.edu/esp/congress/travelgrants-main.asp> -

tienen alguna pregunta o duda. Esperando que este correo encuentre a todxs
bien, y esperando verles a todxs en Barcelona!
