I am currently engaged in legal pro bono research and advocacy and while we are dipping into AI, I am very uncomfortable with its role in suppressing dissidence and free communications. The promise of mesh networks, internet in a box or any other closed systems that many of us in tech civil society used to work on seem to have died. I have no idea how we deliver a society with meaningful privacy protections when autocrats are building “privacy for me, not for thee” and countries are able to criminalize discourse that opposes their leadership but not that calling for violence against its minority members.

The mission of this list seems more vital than ever, and the liberation hacker mentality one worth nurturing. Apologies, I did not realize it was the _same_ list the subscribe link
was sent to.

I had assumed by context that this was a new list.
