<p>eQualitie is seeking an experienced Android mobile developer,
motivated to develop open source security tools for defending
human rights in the digital domain, to work within a tight-knit
team on Ceno Browser. Ceno (short for Censorship.no!) is a tool
designed to circumvent the most repressive forms of Internet
censorship. Built on Mozilla’s Android Components, <a
href="https://censorship.no">Ceno Browser</a> utilizes the <a
href="https://ouinet.work">Ouinet</a> library (also built by the
eQualitie team) to share web content peer-to-peer over
BitTorrent’s DHT.</p>

<p><strong>Your primary duties will include:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Implementing UI/UX improvements in the Ceno Browser <a
href="https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/reference-browser">Android
app</a></li>
<li>Implementing a consent-full <a
href="https://github.com/cleaninsights/">analytics suite</a>
to improve user feedback loops and usage metrics</li>
<li>Build and deploy regular releases of Ceno Browser to keep it
up-to-date with the latest changes to Mozilla libraries</li>
<li>Unit-testing code for robustness, usability, and general
reliability</li>
<li>Work on bug fixing and improving application performance</li>
<li>Maintaining the highest level of professional security and
code development practices</li>
<li>Listening critically and giving viable feedback to team
members, managers, and outside groups</li>
<li>Documenting work toward long-term maintenance and
reproducibility</li>
<li>Being on time with product timelines and deliverables</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>You should:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Have experience with frontend Android app development
(experience with mobile web browser development a strong plus)</li>
<li>Have experience in a test-driven approach to software
development & version control with git</li>
<li>Be reachable for at least 2 hours on working days between 9am
– 5pm EST</li>
<li>Have experience in network programming (HTTP, TCP/IP, UDP) and
familiarity with peer-to-peer (BitTorrent) technologies</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Nice to have:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Published at least one original mobile app</li>
<li>Java/Kotlin project experience</li>
<li>Familiarity with Javascript/HTML/CSS</li>
<li>Enjoy delving into other people’s code, debugging and
improving it</li>
<li>Excellent development credentials and years of experience
working with a variety of technologies</li>
<li>A strong desire to work on free and open-source software</li>
</ul>
