Together with my co-author Marie Petersmann, we are glad to share with you the first part of
<a href="https://data-activism.net/2020/06/bigdatasur-covid-sensing-covid-19-and-climate-change/">
a piece</a> [1] just published on the “COVID-19 from the margins” blog.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="mso-ascii-font-family:
Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;color:black">The post starts from a joint reflection, inspired by the COVID-19 crisis, on the turn to <i>sensing</i> as
a distinctive <i style="mso-bidi-font-style:
normal">mode of engagement</i> with socio-ecological issues, such as climate change, which can be productive to (re)imagine and address ongoing disruptive events. We refrain from stating whether the COVID-19 outbreak
will be beneficial for tackling climate change on the long run beyond the immediate drop in atmospheric pollution. Rather, our purpose here is to draw parallelisms between sensing the virus and sensing environmental issues as
<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>a way of ‘<a href="https://www.jstor.org/stable/j.ctvzgb8c7.31?refreqid=excelsior%3Acb5c468df4fba1cb05ca11811505b5db&seq=1#metadata_info_tab_contents"><span style="mso-bidi-font-weight:bold">making visible politically
masked risks</span></a>’ [2] and claim back agency in shaping responses to the socio-ecological issues at stake.
